Note. Megane II vehicles are equipped with three types of instrument panels:
- - basic configuration;
- - intermediate configuration;
- - maximum configuration.
Self-diagnosis
All instrument panels have a self-diagnosis system.
To activate the self-diagnosis system, you must:
- insert the card into the reader;
- click on the button «ADAC» (control of data output to the on-board computer display);
- press and hold the engine start button (about 2 s).
The instrument panel then switches to «self-test», which includes:
- mode indication «self-test»;
- step deviation of instrument arrows;
- turning on all signal lamps;
- highlighting all segments of the display;
- software version indication («software»);
- indication of the amount of fuel measured in the tank (in liters);
- indication of hourly fuel consumption;
- display of stored faults or messages «check is normal».
Note. To exit the self-diagnosis mode, press the reset button for the total mileage counter.
Distance to next oil change
Note. The fuel range and mileage to next oil change are entered by the scan tool.
Enter the mileage until the next oil change.
Display on-board computer page «Change of oil».
Long press the odometer reset button.
The signal for the mileage value until the next oil change will flash, then the original value will be restored.
Release the reset button.
Thus, the countdown to the next oil change is initialized.
Display operation
1. Oil gauge
This indication comes on for about 30 seconds when the ignition is switched on or after the engine is started.
If the oil level is between the maximum and minimum values, the display shows the message «oil level is ok».
If the button for resetting the total mileage counter is pressed within 30 s, the oil level is shown on the display using small squares.
As the oil level drops, the number of squares decreases and they are replaced by dashes.
If the oil level falls below the minimum level, the display shows the message «top up the oil level», the oil level squares are completely replaced by symbols - a dash and a signal lamp lights up on the instrument panel «service».
To proceed to reading the parameters of the on-board computer, press the engine start button again.
Note. Under normal operating conditions, the oil level is measured when the ignition is left off for more than one minute, otherwise the value obtained from the previous measurement is displayed.
Note. If a malfunction of the oil level sensor is detected at the moment the ignition is turned on, the mileage indication immediately turns on on the display.
Note. Fluctuating oil level readings are normal. It can be influenced by various factors:
- - car parking on a slope;
- - too short time elapsed after starting and short operation of the engine (especially if the oil is cold) etc.
2. Total mileage counter
Counters of total and daily run.
The counters of the total and daily mileage are displayed on the display for about 30 seconds after the ignition is switched on (after displaying oil level information). Clicking on a button «ADAC» (button on the end of the windshield wiper lever) allows you to reduce the waiting time.
The daily mileage counter is reset by pressing the button «RAZ» (zeroing). Resetting the daily mileage counter is different from resetting the on-board computer (distance traveled).
Note. It is not possible to reconfigure the display from kilometers to miles. To do this, you need to replace the instrument panel.
On-board computer
Data controlled by the on-board computer is displayed instead of odometer readings at the touch of a button «ADAC» (control of data output to the on-board computer display), located on the end of the wiper switch lever. The daily mileage counter is reset by pressing the button «RAZ» (Zeroing).
The on-board computer information is sequentially displayed after the odometer readings for the trip in a certain sequence.
Fuel consumption (in liters) since last reset
Average fuel consumption (in l/100 km) since the last reset.
This message only appears on the display after the vehicle has traveled approximately 400 m from the start of the movement.
It takes into account the distance traveled and the amount of fuel used since the last reset.
Current fuel consumption (in l/100 km)
This indication appears on the display at speeds above 30 km/h (approximately).
With the accelerator pedal fully released and the speed above 30 km/h, the current fuel consumption is «zero».
Estimated distance to next refueling (in km)
This message only appears on the display after the vehicle has traveled approx.
This is a potential range calculated on the basis of the distance traveled, the amount of fuel in the tank and fuel consumption.
When the warning light for the emergency remaining fuel is on, the fuel range is not displayed.
Distance traveled since last reset (average speed since the last reset)
This message only appears on the display after the vehicle has traveled approximately 400 m from the start of the movement.
The average speed is calculated by dividing the distance traveled by the time elapsed since the last reset.
All calculations are made by the on-board computer.
The range until the next oil change shows the driver the distance (in km), which can be completed before the next oil change.
Target speed
If the vehicle is equipped with a governor and speed limiter, the display shows the set speed in (km/h).
Whenever the speed setpoint is changed, or in cases where this value cannot be maintained, this information overrides the information selected by the on-board computer.
Attention! If the on-board computer displays flashing dashes, then a malfunction has been detected.

All models can be checked manually (self-diagnosis) and using a diagnostic tool.
Note: Never disassemble the instrument panel. It is only allowed to replace the glass.
