coolant temperature sensor (provides information to the injection computer and the coolant temperature gauge on the instrument panel).
The sensor has 3 contacts, through two of which information is provided on the temperature of the coolant to the injection computer, and through the third - to the pointer on the instrument panel.
This system provides control of the electric fan of the engine cooling system through the injection computer. The system consists of a single coolant temperature sensor that sends a signal to the fuel injection system, cooling fan, temperature gauge and temperature warning light on the instrument panel.
Operating principle
The injection computer controls the following depending on the coolant temperature:
- injection systems;
- relay for turning on the electric fan of the engine cooling system;
- the electric fan turns on at low speed if the coolant temperature exceeds 99°C and turns off when the temperature drops to less than 96°C;
- the electric fan turns on at high speed if the coolant temperature exceeds 102°C. and turns off when the temperature drops to less than 99°C;
- turning on and off the electric fan is also performed depending on the operation of the air conditioner.
Coolant temperature warning light
(common with signal lamp for malfunction of the injection system)
The warning light is switched on and off by the commands of the injection computer.
It lights up if the coolant temperature exceeds 120°C.
