Install the engine on a stand for assembly and disassembly.
Drain the engine oil. Loosen the bolts (1) water pump pulley by blocking the water pump pulley with a screwdriver.
Remove the accessory drive belt.
Remove the wire blocks from the ignition coils and the cylinder head cover.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the mark is aligned (2) (not painted) crankshaft pulley and marks (3) on the timing cover.
Make sure the camshaft dephaser marks are (4) and gear pulley of the exhaust camshaft (5) located as shown in the figure.
Otherwise, rotate the crankshaft one more turn until the unpainted mark on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the mark on the timing cover.
Install the engine flywheel locking tool (Mot. 1431) (6).
Remove:
- crankshaft pulley;
- crankshaft oil seal on the timing side.
Remove:
- water pump pulley bolts;
- water pump pulley.
Turn away bolts (7) fastening the timing cover.
Disconnect the timing cover with a flat blade screwdriver (8).
Detach the timing cover using a crankcase separator with silicone seals. (Mot. 1716) (9) and mallets.
Remove the timing cover.
Removing the timing target
Lower the lever all the way (10) timing chain tensioner with 2.5mm hex wrench (11), to release the tensioner plunger.
Press the timing chain guide until the timing chain tensioner plunger is fully pressed out (12).
Remove the 2.5mm hex wrench from the timing chain tensioner.
Loosen the timing chain guide until the tensioner arm is aligned with the hole in the tensioner housing.
Install a 2.5mm hex wrench into the hole in the tensioner housing to lock the tensioner arm in the locked position.
Remove:
- timing chain tensioner bolts (13);
- timing chain tensioner, preventing it from unlocking.
Remove:
- timing chain damper (14) from his stock;
- bolts (15) fastening the side guide of the timing chain;
- timing chain side guide.
Note. Tooth (16) located at a distance of 7 teeth from the mark of the camshaft dephaser (17).
Click (18) onto the intake camshaft with a flat wrench and align the tooth (16) camshaft phaser with hole axis (19) on the cylinder head to facilitate the removal of the timing chain.
Remove timing chain (20), starting at the crankshaft sprocket.
Clear:
- cylinder head;
- cylinder block;
- cylinder block amplifier;
- timing cover.
Remove residue with a plastic spatula.
Finish cleaning the mating surfaces with a matting wheel.
Be sure to replace:
- chain tensioner;
- timing chain damper;
- side chain guide.
Make sure the tooth (16) camshaft phaser is aligned with the hole axis (19) on the cylinder head.
Make sure the crankshaft mark is (21) facing down vertically.
Timing target setting
Install the new timing chain, starting with the camshaft dephaser and aligning the painted links (22) Timing chains with marks (23) on the intake camshaft dephaser (24), exhaust camshaft pulley and (25) on the crankshaft sprocket.
Install:
- side guide of the new timing chain;
- damper of the new timing chain;
- new timing chain tensioner.
Unlock the timing chain tensioner.
Remove flywheel retainer (Mot. 1431).
Rotate the crankshaft two turns clockwise (viewed from the timing side). Make sure the marks (26) the camshaft dephaser and the exhaust camshaft sprocket point vertically upwards.
Apply beads of silicone sealant to the area (27) 3-4 mm in diameter.
Apply beads of silicone sealant to the area (28) with a diameter of 3-4 mm on the mating surface of the timing cover, installed at a distance (A) 1-2 mm from the inner edge of the timing cover.
Install the timing cover. Torque tighten in the following order:
- M8 bolts No. 6, 7, 13, and 12 on the timing cover (preload) 8 Nm;
- M10 bolts No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on the timing cover 55 Nm;
- bolts M8 No. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 on the timing cover 25 Nm.
Use a plastic spatula to remove excess silicone sealant at three points (cylinder head / timing cover / cylinder head cover).
Install all previously removed parts in reverse order.
