The engine identification data is stamped on the cylinder block.

L7X Engine Identification Number Location
The L7X engine is identified in two ways:
- according to the marking on the cylinder block crankcase next to the oil filter;
- given on the plate attached to the timing mechanism drive casing.

The marking contains:
- A - engine type and code;
- B - identification code according to the Renault system and engine index;
- C - serial number of the engine.
Engine number "C"
The diesel engine number, index and production number are stamped on the front of the cylinder block and are visible between the oil vapor recovery system pipe on the gearbox side.
Gearbox number
The gearbox number, index and production number are stamped on the gearbox housing and are visible from the bottom.
