Motor type «F» with single point injection system (left figure), as well as on an engine of the type «F» with multipoint injection system (drawing on the right) the air filter is installed in front of the gearbox. To replace the filter element (3) must be removed around the perimeter of the cover (4) several clamps (1) or unscrew some screws (1). Before installing a new filter element, clean the inside of the air filter housing.
If the air filter is clogged, the engine does not get the required amount of air. The mixture is thus enriched, which leads to an increase in fuel consumption, along with a decrease in engine power. Therefore, we recommend that you replace the filter element in a timely manner. For this, both original filter elements from Renault and commercially available filter elements manufactured by other companies are suitable.
Removing the filter element
Depending on the modification, the filter housing is bolted to the base either only with bolts, or with bolts and clamps.
1. After you unscrew the bolts or remove the clamps, remove the air filter cover and remove the filter element.
2. Clean it if necessary.
3. Before installing the filter element, clean the inside of the air filter housing. When installing the cover, make sure that the filter element is correctly positioned in the housing, otherwise it may be difficult to tighten the bolts or install the clamps.
Removing the air filter
1.Motors type «WITH» and «F» with single point injection: remove the air filter cover from the housing and remove the filter element.
2. Disconnect the warm and cold air hoses for intake air preheating from the air filter housing. To do this, loosen the bandage.
3. Turn off 3 nuts and remove the bottom part of the case of the air filter from system of injection.
Engine type «F» with multi-point injection system and diesel: depending on the engine variant, the air filter housing is fixed with one or two rubber bands on the bracket or elastically fastened with 2 nuts to the bracket.
Depending on the air filter option, remove the bracket and remove the filter housing from the bracket.
All engines: When installing, make sure the hoses are snug on the air cleaner fittings and that the muffler exhaust manifold preheat container does not suck air through leaks.
Engine type «F» and diesel: if equipped, be sure to install a gasket between the front inlet port and the air filter housing and make sure it is correctly positioned. A deformed gasket must be replaced.
