On the F-type engine with single-point injection system (left drawing), and also on the F-type engine with multi-point injection system (drawing on the right) the air filter is installed in front of the gearbox. To replace the filter element (3), it is necessary to remove several clamps (1) along the perimeter of the cover (4) or unscrew several screws (1). Before installing a new filter element, clean the inside of the air filter housing.

If the air filter is clogged, the engine does not receive the required amount of air. The mixture is enriched, which leads to increased fuel consumption, along with a decrease in engine power. Therefore, we recommend replacing the filter element in a timely manner. Both original filter elements from Renault and filter elements from other companies available for sale are suitable for this.
Removal the filter element
Depending on the modification, the filter housing is bolted to the base either with bolts only or with bolts and clamps.

1. After you have unscrewed the bolts or removed the clamps, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter element.
2. Clean it if necessary.
3. Before installing the filter element, clean the inside of the air filter housing. When installing the cover, ensure that the filter element is correctly positioned in the housing, otherwise there may be difficulties when tightening the bolts or installing the clamps.
Removal the air filter
1. Type "C" and "F" engines with single-point injection: remove the air cleaner cover from the housing and take out the filter element.
2. Disconnect the warm and cold air hoses for preheating the intake air from the air filter housing. To do this, loosen the bandage.
3. Unscrew 3 nuts and remove the lower part of the air filter housing from the injection system.
Engine type "F" with multi-point injection system and diesel: depending on the engine version, the air filter housing is reinforced with one or two rubber bands on the bracket or elastically screwed with 2 nuts to the bracket.
Depending on the air filter option, remove the fastener and remove the filter housing from the bracket.
All engines: When installing, ensure that the hoses are tightly fitted to the air cleaner fittings and that the exhaust manifold preheater container does not suck air through any leaks.
"F" engine and diesel: If equipped, be sure to install the gasket between the front intake port and the air cleaner housing and ensure that it is correctly positioned. A deformed gasket must be replaced.
