Removing
Place the car on a two post lift.
Install the pedal hold down tool
on the brake pedal to reduce the amount of brake fluid escaping.
Unlock the steering wheel.
Remove the front wheel from the corresponding side.
Disconnect the brake hose from the front brake caliper.
Remove the brake pads.
Loosen the top bolt (1) fixing the guide pin, holding the nut from turning (2).
Remove:
- front brake caliper from the brake hose,
- front brake caliper.
Installation
Check up a condition of a cover and the piston of the brake cylinder.
Replace defective parts.
Clean with a wire brush and brake cleaner:
- pad guides,
- brake calipers.
Be sure to replace the guide pin mounting bolts each time you remove it.
Fully screw in the brake hose by turning the brake caliper by hand.
Install the top guide pin bolt.
Torque tighten the top guide pin mounting bolt (34 Nm).
Install the brake pads.
Torque tighten the brake hose on the caliper (17 Nm).
Remove the pedal hold down tool.
Remove air from the brake system.
Install the appropriate front wheel.
Repair
Place the car on a two post lift.
Install a pedal hold tool on the brake pedal to reduce the amount of brake fluid escaping.
Remove:
- front wheel,
- front brake caliper.
Push the piston out of the cylinder by blowing compressed air through the air inlet, after inserting a piece of wood between the bracket and the piston to avoid damaging the piston. Any damage to the piston skirt makes it unsuitable for further use.
Remove the protective cap.
With a flexible plate with a rounded edge (e.g. probe) Remove the rectangular O-ring from the cylinder groove.
Clean parts with denatured alcohol.
