Note. The brake calipers are supplied in a repair kit with a cylinder filled with brake fluid.
When replacing the brake pads or brake disc, be sure to replace them on both sides of the vehicle. Place the car on a lift.
Install a pressurizer on the brake pedal to reduce the amount of brake fluid escaping.
Unlock the steering wheel. Remove the front wheels.
Disconnect the brake hose from the brake caliper.
Loosen the two fixing screws (1) guide fingers.
Remove the support.
Remove the brake pads.
Check the condition of the elements of the brake system (replace damaged parts).
Clean the guides and the calipers themselves.
Move the piston with a tool (Fre. 1190-01) to the bottom of the cylinder.
Install new brake pads, starting with the inner pad.
Install:
- caliper;
- guide pin bolts.
Torque tighten:
- guide pin bolts (32 Nm);
- brake hose (17 Nm).
Attention. Securely fix the brake hose and wheel speed sensor wires if they have been disconnected.
Do not kink the brake hose. Install wheels.
Torque tighten the brake bleeder (6.5 Nm).
If the brake fluid reservoir has not been completely emptied during work, bleed the air from part of the hydraulic circuit of the brake system. Otherwise, bleed the entire hydraulic circuit.
Check the brake fluid level.
Brake Caliper Repair
Push the piston out of the cylinder by blowing compressed air through the air inlet, after inserting a piece of wood between the bracket and the piston to avoid damaging the piston. Any damage to the piston skirt makes it unsuitable for further use. Remove the protective cap.
With a flexible plate with a rounded edge (e.g. probe) Remove the rectangular O-ring from the cylinder groove.
Attention. If there are scratches on the mirror of the wheel cylinder, it is necessary to replace the caliper assembly.
Clean parts with denatured alcohol.
Install:
- a new rectangular O-ring into the cylinder groove;
- piston (after lubricating it with grease from a tube of a repair kit) using a device (Fre. 1190-01);
- protective cap.
