Figure 3.112. Sequence of tightening the exhaust manifold mounting nuts
When working, refer to Figures 3.111 and 3.112.
- remove the subframe heat shield;
- disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold (see subsection "Exhaust system");
- push the catalytic converter back without removing it;
- place a shim on the subframe to support the catalytic converter and prevent damage to the hose. If this happens, the catalytic converter must be replaced;
- remove the brace between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder block;
- unscrew the exhaust manifold mounting nuts, remove it and the gasket.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. In this case, do the following:
- replace manifold and 3-point flange gaskets;
- replace the fastening nuts with new ones;
- observe the order and tightening torque of the manifold mounting nuts.
Note: The heat shield must be securely fastened between the oxygen sensor and the manifold to avoid overheating, which may result in destruction of the oxygen sensor connector. A damaged heat shield must be replaced to prevent fire.
