Fuel supply switch in case of collision (Renault Symbol 2)

The switch is designed to prevent a fire from occurring as a result of fuel leakage during a collision. Upon impact, all fuel supply mechanisms from the tank are switched off. They are brought into working order only by mechanical action of the driver or repairman.



Inertia switch (Figure 3.106) reacts to the impact of the car and opens the fuel pump power supply circuit. When the impact occurs, the inertia switch ball comes out of the socket and opens the electric circuit, the supply voltage "+" is disconnected from the fuel pump relay control circuit and stops flowing to the pump and injectors. The fuel supply from the tank stops.

To return the inertia switch to working condition, simply press on it from above so that the ball enters the socket again.

Attention! After bringing the inertia switch into working condition, it is necessary to clear the ECU memory using the diagnostic device. When the switch is triggered, the injection system ECU records information about the fuel pump relay malfunction in the memory.
