To restore the protection of coatings, a number of mastics are used under the general name of autoanticorrosives. All of them are based on bitumen compounds with various fillers in the form of plasticizers and organic solvents. In a special series are autoanticorrosives based on epoxy resins and hardeners.

As auto anticorrosives, we can recommend rubber-bitumen, bitumen ("Avtoanticor-2"), bitumen-rubber, epoxy-rubber compounds. The following mastics are recommended for use: automotive anticorrosive type "Bitep", rubber-bitumen type "Elastokar", slate type MSA-3.

As protective agents for treating hidden surfaces, it is recommended to use auto preservatives such as "Movil", "Movil-2" and "Rezistan ML". White spirit and gasoline serve as solvents for them.

To protect and seal welded seams, a material such as "Plastizol D-4A" is used, which is applied with a brush to the primed surface and left to dry for up to 72 hours. To protect end edges and spot welds, adhesive joints based on rubber adhesives or adhesives such as "Moment" and 88N are recommended. After applying the adhesive to the ends and flanges, a self-adhesive tape such as PVC is used.

Epoxy-rubber paint brand EPK-11 provides excellent protection against corrosion and is recommended for interior work in the car body (floors).

To seal loose connections, it is recommended to apply sealant of the AG and 51-17 type to the inside of the joints, which must be applied with an overlap of the joint.

To restore the anti-corrosion coating, follow the following procedure.

Carry out work at a temperature of 20°C.

Clean the damaged surface. Remove the remains of peeling mastic and clean the damaged area from corrosion until it has a metallic shine. Prime the surface to be restored and dry it.

Prepare the anti-corrosion compound by thoroughly mixing its components. Add solvent if necessary. Apply the anti-corrosion coating in 2-4 layers, keeping an interval of 2 to 7 hours for drying each layer. The final drying time of the entire coating (10-48 hours), depending on the type of coating used, is specified in the instructions for using the autoanticorrosion.

Apply anti-corrosion products by spraying them with a spray gun. If necessary, these products can be diluted with white spirit or gasoline.

Before applying anti-corrosion agents, wash hidden cavities with water under pressure and dry with hot air. It is recommended to use threshold cleaners for washing. To insert nozzles into hidden cavities, drill holes with a diameter of 9–10 mm and then close them with standard plugs. The highest protective properties among film-forming oil compounds are those of the NG-216A and NG-216B types. Treat hidden cavities every 2 years during seasonal use of the vehicle or every year during year-round use.
