Removal procedure:
  • place the vehicle on a lift or raise the front of the vehicle and install safety supports under the body;

  • inside the car, carefully detach the gearshift lever cover from the console (Fig. 4.24);

  • remove the heat shields underneath the vehicle and disconnect the rear section of the exhaust system from the front section (Fig. 4.25). Support the rear section of the system with a stand;

  • unscrew the nut, remove the washer and disconnect the gearshift rod from the lower part of the gearshift lever. Unscrew the four nuts securing the gearshift lever housing to the floor and lower it down (Fig. 4.26);

  • bend back the rubber boot, unscrew the bolt in the front part of the rod, remove the washer and bushing (Fig. 4.27). Remember the location of the parts (Fig. 4.28). Remove the rod from the gearbox;

  • before removing the mechanism fork, mark its position relative to the rod, loosen the clamp bolt and disconnect the fork;
  • inspect the parts - replace any worn or damaged ones.

Installation procedure:


  • lubricate the gear shift lever pivot joints and gear shift drive rod axle with 33 Medium grease;
  • install the fork onto the stem as marked during removal and tighten the clamp securely;
  • if you are installing new parts, when installing the fork on the stem, make sure that approximately 7–8 mm of the knurled part of the fork is visible; the fork should be facing the gearbox with its protruding part;
  • attach the fork to the gear lever, install the bushing, bolt and nut;
  • perform the remaining operations in the reverse order of removal;
  • check and adjust the gear shift mechanism.

Attention! For precise adjustment of the mechanism, the B.Vi. 1133 device is required – the gearshift lever lock in the first gear position.
