System "Shift Lock" blocks the movement of the selector lever if the brake pedal is not pressed at the same time.
Note: When providing technical assistance in the event of a battery failure, follow the instructions in the vehicle operating instructions.
The "Lock Up" system or torque converter lock allows the automatic transmission to be directly connected to the engine. This is achieved by means of a "mini-friction" installed in the torque converter.
The "Lock Up" system is controlled by the ECU.
The automatic transmission is lubricated under pressure, therefore it is only provided when the engine is running.
Therefore, to avoid serious damage, it is necessary to follow these rules:
- never drive with the ignition off (for example, on the descent);
- do not move the car by pushing it (for example, to get to a gas station). If such a need arises, take precautions;
Since the wheels of a car can only be driven when the engine is running, it is impossible to start the engine of a car with an automatic transmission by pushing it.
