Pic. 1.105. Locations for jacking
When using a portable jack, be sure to install appropriate stands under the vehicle (see fig. 1.105).
Attention! The load-bearing base of the body of this car is protected by special compounds that provide a guarantee against through corrosion for 12 years.
Attention! Do not use the equipment without rubber pads to avoid damaging the factory protective coating of the metal.
Attention! Never raise the vehicle by placing the jack arm under the front suspension arms or under the rear suspension beam.
Attention! To raise the front or rear wheel, use the support points in the places indicated by the arrows in Figure 1.105.
To install the car on stands, raise the car on one side and place the stands under the amplifiers provided for installing the standard jack.
Stop the vehicle on a firm and level ground (if necessary, place a hard object under the jack foot), turn on the alarm.
Engage the parking brake and then into gear (first or reverse) or move the automatic transmission selector to position P.
Ask all passengers to get out of the vehicle and keep clear of the road.
Pic. 1.106. Loosening the wheel bolts with a balloon wrench: 1 key
Loosen the wheel bolts using the wheelbrace 1 (pic. 1.106). Install the wheel wrench so that the force applied to the wrench handle is directed downwards.
Holding the jack horizontally, set the jack head at the height of the jack socket closest to the relevant wheel.
Turning the jack screw by hand, spread the jack and position it so that the support foot partially goes under the car.
Turn the jack screw a few turns to raise the wheel off the ground.
Turn out bolts and remove a wheel.
Put the spare wheel on the hub and turn it so that the mounting holes for the mounting bolts in the hub and in the wheel match. If bolts are included with the spare wheel, use them only to secure the spare wheel. Tighten the wheel bolts and lower the jack. Tighten the bolts and contact a Renault dealer as soon as possible to check the tightness of the bolts (tightening torque: 110 Nm).
