It is necessary to strictly follow the requirements of the traffic regulations in force in the country where the vehicle is operated.
For replacement, use tires only of the brand, size, type and tread pattern that were originally installed on the vehicle.
Tire operation
Pic. 1.107. Tire wear indicator: 1 - wear indicators; 2 - protrusions-indicators
Tires must be in good condition, and the tread pattern must be sufficiently deep. Tires recommended for use by Renault technical departments have special wear indicators 1, which are molded on the wheel tread in the form of protrusions (pic. 1.107).
If the tread pattern is worn to a level where indicator protrusions 2 become visible, it is necessary to replace the tires, because indicators show that the tread depth has decreased to 1.6 mm and wet grip will be poor.
Driving errors such as driving over obstacles (e.g. on a curbstone), can lead to tire damage and a violation of the correct geometry of the front suspension.
Overloading the vehicle, driving on highways for a long time, especially in hot weather, or constantly driving on poorly paved roads will cause rapid tire wear and reduce vehicle safety.
Tire change
Simultaneous installation of tires of different types on the car will lead to the following:
- the car will not meet the requirements of the current traffic regulations;
- the behavior of the car in corners will change;
- increased effort on the steering wheel;
- tire noise level will increase;
- difficult to install snow chains.
