1. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands. Remove the heat shields to access the gear selector assembly.
2. Remove the center console as described in Chapter Body.
3. Remove the air filter assembly (contact the head Power systems, release).
4. Disconnect the drive mode shift cable from the transmission lever by releasing the brackets and removing the tip from the hinge.
5. Make sure the cable is attached to the lever assembly as required, then turn the cable lock ring to release the adjusting collar.
6. Place the driving mode selector lever and shift lever on the transmission into 1st gear.
7. Attach the tip of the cable to the pivot on the transmission (but don't push it at this stage) and make sure the components fit together as required. If not, adjust the length of the cable by turning the grommet. When finished, place the tip on the pivot and lock the adjusting sleeve by turning the ring.
8. Install the cable retaining brackets.
9. Establish the central console as it is described in the Chapter Body.
10. Check that the drive mode select lever moves freely and that the starter only engages in the "P" And "N". Check also the parking feature.
11. Install the heat shields, then lower the vehicle to the ground.
