Removal water from a diesel engine fuel filter (Renault Megane 1)

1. Water drain tap (shown by arrow) installed in the base of the fuel filter assembly (refer to the accompanying illustration).



2. Place a suitable container below the drain valve.

Note: For better access, loosen the nuts securing the filter to the body and move the filter assembly to a more convenient position.

3. Loosen the bleed screw on the fuel pump coupling (refer to Section Filling and bleeding the fuel system), then open the drain valve by turning it counterclockwise.

4. Usually 100 ml is enough to remove all water or other contaminants. Finally, tighten the drain cock and bleed nipple securely.

5. Bleed the fuel system as described in Chapter Power supply and exhaust systems.
