Note: Use a compression tester for petrol engines. Compressometer must be equipped with a universal tip (rubber) or a ¼ pipe thread adapter. Follow the instructions for use provided with the compression tester by the manufacturer.
1. Remove the spark plugs.
2. Connect the compression gauge (1) to the engine.
3. Connect the diagnostic scanner to the car and run the following commands:
- RZ009: car function programming (VEHICLE FUNCTION PROGRAMMING).
- VP036: fuel suppression (FUEL SUPPLY INHIBITION).
4. Move the gear lever to neutral position.
5. Run the starter until the compression gauge reading stabilizes.
Note: While measuring compression, fully depress the accelerator pedal to fully open the throttle.
6. Similarly, measure the compression in the remaining cylinders of the engine.
Note: There must be a pause of at least 10 seconds between starter starts, as the starter may not engage due to overheating protection.
7. Disconnect the compression gauge.
8. Install spark plugs.
9. Using the diagnostic tool, run command VP037: "Stop fuel suppression" (STOP FUEL SUPPLY INHIBITION).
10. Start the engine.
Note: If the engine does not start, use the scan tool to run command VP037: "Stop fuel suppression" (STOP FUEL SUPPLY INHIBITION) or turn off the ignition and wait one minute before trying to start the engine again.
