Removing
Place the car on a two post lift.
Disconnect the battery after making sure. that the steering column is securely locked.
Remove:
- front wheels and fairing under the engine;
- engine cover;
- collector heat shield;
- nuts securing the exhaust pipe flange to the manifold.
Disconnect the oxygen sensor connectors and disconnect the wire blocks.
Remove the right and left front subframe connecting rods.
Lower the subframe a few centimeters:
- remove the bolt 1 jet thrust;
- unscrew the bolt of the terminal connection of the steering shaft universal joint yoke by a few turns and remove the nut by tapping on the bolt;
- remove the bolts 2 of the triangular brackets of the rear subframe mounting;
- Loosen the bolts 3 of the rear subframe mounting by no more than five turns.
Install a hydraulic jack on the front of the subframe and remove the bolts 4 securing the subframe struts,
Lower the subframe, then remove the hydraulic jack.
Remove oxygen sensors and strut mounting bolt 5.
Remove the four nuts 6 of the catalytic converter flange and pre-catalytic converter by inserting a tool through the sub-frame using several extensions.
Remove:
- pre-catalytic converter;
- heat shields of the pre-catalytic converter in case of its replacement.
Installation
Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
Insert the studs into the pre-catalytic converter flange.
Replace gaskets with new ones.
Note. Before tightening the bolts of the front subframe mounting struts. make sure. that they are securely supported on two axes. welded to the body.
Observe tightening torques.
Make sure that the steering column lock securely fixes it.
If this is not the case, the steering column height must be readjusted.
