Cruise control/speed limiter

General information

Cars are equipped with two types of devices:
  • cruise control allows you to maintain the speed selected by the driver. This function can be switched off at any time by pressing the brake pedal, clutch pedal or one of the system switches;
  • the speed limiter allows the driver to set a maximum speed. Once the vehicle reaches the set speed, pressing the accelerator pedal does not result in a further increase in speed.

The selected longitudinal speed can be exceeded at any time by overcoming the resistance of the accelerator pedal.

These functions are controlled by the injection ECU, which communicates with the automatic transmission ECU and the instrument cluster. The set values are implemented using an electric throttle valve.

Note: Blinking "ADAC" page (on-board computer) or displays indicate to the driver that maintaining the set speed is not possible (for example, when driving downhill).

How Cruise Control Works

Conditions of inclusion:
  • switch in the "cruise control" position;
  • 2nd gear recognized by ECU;
  • speed not less than 30 km/h. more than 200 km/h (for reference);
  • the indicator light is continuously green (cruise control);
  • pressing the switch "+", "-" or "restore the set speed".

Shutdown conditions:
  • pressing the accelerator pedal
  • pressing the brake or clutch pedal;
  • pressing the switch "0";
  • switch in the "off" position;
  • trajectory stabilization system intervention;
  • injection ECU intervention;
  • the transmission is not engaged.

When you press the accelerator pedal, the cruise control operation is temporarily disabled. When you release the accelerator pedal, the system is restored.

Note: Flashing of the set speed value indicates to the driver that maintaining the set speed is not possible.

Operating principle of the speed limiter

Conditions of inclusion:
  • switch in the "Speed limiter" position;
  • 2nd gear recognized by ECU;
  • speed of movement not less than 30 km/h, not more than 200 km/h (for reference);
  • the indicator light is continuously yellow (speed limiter);
  • pressing the switch "+", "-" or "restore the set speed".

Shutdown conditions:

  • sharp pressing of the accelerator pedal (overcoming resistance);
  • switch in the "off" position;
  • trajectory stabilization system intervention;
  • injection ECU intervention;
  • pressing the switch "0".

When the accelerator pedal is pressed, the system operation is temporarily prohibited. When the accelerator pedal is released, the system operation is restored.
