The right drive shaft on vehicles with RK and AD8 gearboxes has an intermediate support and is supplied as spare parts in two parts:
- outer part: outer joint, connecting hollow shaft and inner joint without housing;
- inner part (Inner joint housing, intermediate shaft and support bearing).
In this regard, the right drive shaft can be removed completely or only the outer part can be removed, while the inner part remains in place, which allows you to avoid removing the bearing lock plate and avoiding damage to the differential flange seal.
The right drive shaft can also be removed as an assembly if the operating procedure requires it.
Tripod type CV joints are used to prevent engine vibrations from being transmitted through the drive shafts to the vehicle body. CV joints are necessary to transmit torque and compensate for the movement of the front suspension. Also. CV joints allow you to change the length of the drive shaft and transmit torque at constantly changing angles.
Attention
- The drive shaft joint splines are glued to the front wheel hubs, so a special puller must be used to remove the drive shafts.
- When replacing the drive shaft CV joint boot, the specified amount of recommended lubricant must be used.
