Removal
- When replacing the JC5 transmission right drive shaft oil seal, the following special tools must be used:
- bits for knocking out elastic pins Bvi. 31—01;
- a mandrel for installing the oil seal of the right semi-axial gear B. Vi. 945;
- a mandrel for the oil seal of the right semi-axial gear B. Vi. 1058.
- Remove the oil pan and drain the transmission oil.
- Remove the right front wheel.
- Remove the upper bolts securing the shock absorber strut to the steering knuckle.
- Remove the ABS sensor.
- Borodkom V. Vi. 31-01 knock out the elastic pin of the right drive shaft (rice. 6.8).
- Tilt the steering knuckle and remove the drive shaft from the side gear splines without damaging the drive shaft bellows.
- Remove the side gear o-ring.
- Borodkom V. Vi. 31-01 for elastic pins and use a small hammer to tap the bottom of the oil seal so that you can tear the oil seal off the seating band.
- After displacing the oil seal from its seat, use pliers to remove the oil seal, without damaging the splines of the side gear.
- The oil seal is installed using mandrel B. Vi. 1058 and the protective cap of the mandrel B. Vi. 945 (rice. 6.33). Lubricate the protective cap before installing it on the spline of the side gear.
- Install the oil seal, then the O-ring, and apply MOLYKOTE BR2 lubricant to the side gear splines.
- Position the drive shaft against the side gear.
- While rocking the steering knuckle, slide the drive shaft inner joint shank onto the side gear splines. In this case, use the beard B. Vi. 31-01 for aligning holes for elastic pins. The entrance chamfer of the hole in the side gear makes it easier to install a new elastic pin. Install new elastic pins and seal their ends with RHODORSEAL 5661 (rice. 6.13).
- Tighten the nuts and bolts to the required torque.
- Pour transmission oil into the gearbox.
