Removing
Remove the right front wheel drive shaft.
Cut big (8) and small (7) clamps with wire cutters or a metal saw, being careful not to damage the joint housing and drive shaft.
Slide the boot to release the hinge housing.
Install the hinge housing (3).
Note:
- The hinge housing does not have a locking latch, so it can be removed without force.
- Do not remove the rollers from the trunnions, as the rollers and needles are worked in together and should not be interchanged.
Remove as much of the grease contained in the pivot housing as possible.
Note: Never use solvent to remove grease.
Remove retaining ring (9) special tongs (10).
With the help of a press (5) compress the three-stud, using the puller as a stop.
Note: Mark the position of the three-stud before removing.
Remove the protective cover from the drive shaft.
Installation
Parts that must be replaced:
- protective cover for the drive shaft of the right front wheel, from the side of the gearbox,
- a lock ring of a laying of a forward power shaft from outside a transmission.
Be sure to replace:
- large clamp,
- small clamp.
Use a pressure cleaner to clean the driveshaft, stud, and joint housing.
Put on a small diameter collar (7) to the drive shaft.
To facilitate installation of the protective boot, lightly lubricate the drive shaft with the lubricant supplied with the boot.
Install protective cover (6) to the drive shaft.
Insert the sealing lip of the protective boot into the groove of the drive shaft.
Insert a thorn (5), maintaining the position marked upon removal.
Install a new circlip using circlip pliers.
Fill boot and pivot housing evenly with grease.
Install the hinge body on the three-stud.
Insert the sealing lip of the protective boot into the groove of the hinge housing.
Note: Check that the sealing lip of the protective boot is correctly positioned in the groove of the drive shaft.
Install:
- a small clamp on the protective cover of the inner joint of the drive shaft,
- a large tie-down collar on the protective cover of the inner joint of the drive shaft.
Clip-on clamps CAILLEAU
Tighten a small clamp (11) and a big collar (12) until it clicks with the tool.
Clamps OETiKER
Tighten a small clamp (13) and a big collar (14) using the device.
Position 1 - Preswaging and Clamp Installation
Place a spacer (15) into the bottom notch and squeeze the pliers until it stops. The pre-swaged collar can slide over the protective boot. Position it in the right place.
Position 2 - Compression
Place a spacer (15) into the top notch and squeeze the pliers until it stops.
Install the right front wheel drive shaft.
