Removing
Remove the left front wheel drive shaft.
Cut big (1) and small (2) clamps with wire cutters or a metal saw, being careful not to damage the joint housing and drive shaft.
Slide the boot to release the hinge housing.
Install the hinge housing (4).
Note:
- The hinge body does not have a locking latch, so it can be removed without force,
- Do not remove the rollers from the trunnions, as the rollers and needles are worked in together and should not be interchanged.
Remove as much grease as possible.
Note: Never use solvent to remove grease.
Remove retaining ring (5) special forceps.
Using a press, compress the hinge (6) using a puller as a stop.
Note: Mark the position of the three-stud before removing.
Remove:
- protective cover from the drive shaft,
- spring cup with spring.
Installation
Parts that must be replaced:
- protective cover for the drive shaft of the left front wheel, on the side of the gearbox,
- a lock ring of a laying of a forward power shaft from about a transmission.
Be sure to replace:
- spring cup,
- belleville spring,
- large clamp,
- small clamp.
Use a pressure cleaner to clean the driveshaft, stud, and joint housing.
Put on a small diameter collar (2) to the drive shaft.
To facilitate installation of the protective boot, lightly lubricate the drive shaft with the lubricant supplied with the boot.
Install protective cover (3) to the drive shaft.
Insert the sealing lip of the protective boot into the groove of the drive shaft.
Install:
- trithorn (6) to the position marked during removal,
- new circlip using circlip pliers.
Install:
- cup (7) on a spring (8),
- a cup with a spring in the hinge body (6).
Fill the cover and hinge housing equally with grease in the required amount.
Install the hinge body on the three-stud.
Insert the sealing lip of the protective boot into the groove of the hinge housing.
Note: Check that the sealing lip of the protective boot is correctly positioned in the groove of the drive shaft.
Insert a chamfered rod between boot and drive shaft to adjust the amount of air inside the joint.
Install:
- a small clamp on the protective cover of the inner joint of the drive shaft,
- a large tie-down collar on the protective cover of the inner joint of the drive shaft.
Install the left front wheel drive shaft.
