Cover of the external hinge of a shaft of a drive of a forward wheel:
1 - large clamp;
2 — a small coupling collar;
3 - protective cover;
4 - clip;
5 - hinge body;
6 - separators;
7 - wheel drive shaft;
8 - balls;
9 - clamp.
Cut big (10) and small (11) clamps with wire cutters or a metal saw, being careful not to damage the joint housing and drive shaft.
Slide the boot to release the hinge housing.
Cut the protective cover of the inner joint of the drive shaft.
Remove as much grease as possible.
Using a steel inertia hammer and drift, apply several blows to the clip (12), to disengage the hinge housing (13) with drive shaft.
Remove retaining ring (14). Replace the protective cover of the inner joint of the right front wheel drive shaft and the circlip of the front drive shaft gasket on the transmission side.
Replace the large and small tie straps.
Install the small clamp (15) to the drive shaft.
To facilitate installation of the protective boot, lightly lubricate the drive shaft with the lubricant supplied with the boot.
Install protective cover (16) to the drive shaft.
Insert the sealing lip of the protective boot into the groove of the drive shaft.
Install retaining ring (17).
Fill the boot and pivot housing with equal amounts of grease.
Install the hinge housing (18) on the drive shaft, tapping the hinge body with a brass drift so that the retaining ring snaps into place behind the cage.
Insert the sealing lip of the protective boot into the groove of the hinge housing.
Note. Check that the sealing lip of the protective boot is correctly positioned in the groove of the drive shaft.
Tighten the clamps using a snap-on clamp pliers for drive shafts with a thermoplastic boot.
