Front wheel drive shaft inner hinge cover:
1 - protective ring;
2 — wheel drive shaft;
3 - ball bearing;
4 - hinge body;
5 - tripod hinge;
6 - protective cover;
7 - small clamp;
8 - a large coupling collar;
9 - clamp.
Cut big (10) and small (11) clamps with wire cutters or a metal saw, being careful not to damage the joint housing and drive shaft.
Slide the boot to release the hinge housing.
Install the hinge housing (12).
Note. The hinge housing does not have a locking latch, so it can be removed without force.
Do not remove the rollers from the trunnions, as the rollers and needles are worked in together and should not be interchanged.
Remove as much of the grease contained in the pivot housing as possible.
Do not use solvent to remove grease.
Remove retaining ring (13) special forceps.
Note. Mark the position of the tripod joint before removing.
Using a press, compress the hinge (14), using a puller as a stop.
Remove protective cover (15) from the drive shaft.
Replace the protective cover of the inner joint of the right front wheel drive shaft and the circlip of the front drive shaft gasket on the transmission side.
Replace the large and small tie straps.
Put on a small diameter collar (16) to the drive shaft.
To facilitate installation of the protective boot, lightly lubricate the drive shaft with the lubricant supplied with the boot.
Install protective cover (17) to the drive shaft.
Insert the sealing lip of the protective boot into the groove of the drive shaft.
Insert tripod joint (18), maintaining the position marked upon removal.
Install a new retaining ring (19) using circlip pliers.
Fill the cover and hinge housing equally with grease in the required amount.
Put on the hinge body (20) on a tripod (21).
Insert the sealing lip of the protective boot into the groove of the hinge housing.
Check that the sealing lip of the protective boot is correctly positioned in the groove of the drive shaft.
Slide the small and large tie-down straps over the protective cover of the driveshaft inner joint.
Tighten the clamps using a snap-clip pliers for drive shafts with a thermoplastic boot.
