To determine the source of the noise, a road test of the vehicle should be performed. Then the fault should be reproduced on a stationary vehicle. To do this, it is necessary to repeatedly and abruptly change the engine crankshaft speed in order to test in a wide range of resonances.

After the noise has been reproduced, make sure there is no contact between the exhaust pipe and the body, check the alignment, integrity and condition of all components of the exhaust system, and try to eliminate the noise by manually fixing various components of the pipe or heat-insulating screens.

If the noise is localized in the catalytic converter, it is necessary to remove it and conduct a visual inspection inside the housing, and also shake the converter vigorously in order to detect the destruction of the filler or the presence of a foreign object inside.

If the filler is damaged, its cause should be identified and it should be checked whether the pipeline behind the neutralizer is damaged by filler particles.
