1. Before removing the clutch for replacement, perform the tests below to determine the nature of the damage.
2. Start the engine and let it idle.
3. Press the clutch pedal and hold it for 3 seconds.
4. Engage reverse. If a grinding sound is heard, the clutch or friction disc needs to be replaced because the connection between the clutch and the flywheel is interrupted.
5. To check the clutch for slippage, drive a short drive to preheat the transmission and clutch to normal operating temperature.
6. Stop the vehicle, apply the parking brake and engage third gear.
7. Press the clutch pedal, increase the engine speed to 3000 - 4000 per minute and quickly release the clutch pedal. The clutch works flawlessly if the engine stops immediately.
