1. Before removing the clutch for replacement, perform the tests described below to determine the nature of the damage.

2. Start the engine and let it idle.

3. Press the clutch pedal and hold it for 3 seconds.

4. Put the transmission in reverse. If you hear a grinding noise, the clutch or friction disc needs to be replaced because the connection between the clutch and the flywheel has been broken.

5. To check the clutch for slippage, take the vehicle for a short drive to warm up the transmission and clutch to normal operating temperature.

6. Stop the vehicle, apply the parking brake and engage third gear.

7. Press the clutch pedal, increase the engine speed to 3000 - 4000 rpm and release the clutch pedal sharply. The clutch works perfectly if the engine stops immediately.
