When the starter is turned onPossible reasonsWhat to do
The indicator lights on the instrument panel go out or do not light up, the starter does not turn on.The battery terminals are loose, not connected, or corroded.Connect the terminals. If they are corroded, clean them and tighten them.
The battery is discharged or defective.Connect a working battery to the discharged one. Do not move the vehicle by pushing it from behind if the steering column is locked.
The engine does not start.Launch conditions not met.See section "Starting and stopping the engine".
The steering column did not unlock.The steering wheel is locked.To unlock the steering shaft, turn the key in the ignition switch and the steering wheel slightly.
On the move
Vibration.Insufficient air pressure in the tires, improper wheel balancing or damage to the wheels.Check your tire pressure; if it is within the norm, contact a service station.
Presence of dirt or snow on the wheels.Clean the car, especially its wheels.
White smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe.Mechanical failure: blown cylinder head gasket, orStop the engine. Contact a service station.
This is not always a malfunction; smoke may be released during regeneration of the particulate filter.See section "Peculiarity of cars with diesel engine"
Oil pressure warning light is on:
When turning or braking the carThe engine oil level is insufficient.Add engine oil
In idle modeLow oil pressure.Contact the nearest service station of the manufacturer.
The oil pressure warning light goes out with a delay or remains on when the engine speed increases.Insufficient oil pressure.Stop and contact a service station.
The oil change warning light remains on after the oil has been changed.The oil change warning system has not been reinitialized.Re-initialize the oil change warning system.
The 2WD mode and electronic system malfunction indicator lights come on.All-wheel drive system malfunction.Continue driving at moderate speed and visit a service station as soon as possible. The solution to this problem may be to change the tires.
The system refuses to switch to "2WD" mode or "4WD Lock" mode. "AUTO" mode remains active.All-wheel drive system malfunction.Contact a service station immediately.
WhistlingThe antenna on the roof is not installed correctly.Change the position of the antenna.
Boiling of coolant.Mechanical damage: cylinder head gasket is broken, water pump is faulty.Stop the engine. Contact a service station.
There is smoke coming from under the hood.Short circuit or leak in the cooling system.Stop, turn off the ignition, move away from the car and call the service station.
Turning the steering wheel requires a lot of effort.The drive belt is torn.Replace the drive belt.
Lack of working fluid in the power steering pump.For power steering maintenance, please contact a service station.
The engine is overheating. The coolant temperature warning light comes on.The engine cooling system fan is faulty.Stop driving, turn off the engine and contact a service station.
Coolant leak.Stop the car, turn off the engine and check the coolant reservoir: there should be coolant in it. If there is no coolant, contact a service station immediately.
The radiator is blocked or clogged.Stop the car, turn off the engine and clean the radiator (see the section "Caring for the body and engine compartment"). If it is clean, immediately contact a service station.
Electrical equipment
The windshield wipers are not working.The windshield wiper blades are frozen.Release the wiper blades before turning on the wipers.
Electrical circuit failure.Contact a service station.
The windshield wiper does not stop.Electrical control failureContact a service station.
Increased flashing frequency of direction indicators.The light bulb burned out.Replace the lamp.
The direction indicators and hazard warning lights do not work.Electrical circuit failure.Contact a service station.
The headlights do not turn on or off.Electrical circuit or control failure.Contact a service station.
Traces of condensation in the headlights.This is normal. The presence of condensation on the headlight reflectors is a natural consequence of changes in outside air temperature. When the headlights are turned on, the condensation quickly disappears.
