Before performing any operations on the clutch, it is necessary to carry out several control actions in order to be sure that it is the clutch that is faulty.
When checking the clutch, first check the fluid level in the reservoir. Check the condition of the hoses and their connections. Inspect the clutch pedal bushings for wear and secure fastening.
Clutch housing:
1 — clutch housing;
2 - drain plug;
3 - magnet;
4 — hydraulic clutch release bearing;
5 — hydraulic clutch release bearing mounting bolt
- Clutch driven disc outer diameter: 216 mm.
- Clutch slave disc thickness: 6.9 mm.
- Number of splines: 24.

Clutch features of hydromechanical gearbox
The clutch is controlled by the ECU of the sequential manual gearbox. The hydraulic release bearing of the clutch is equipped with a position sensor. The ECU of the sequential manual gearbox has a sensor that stores the number of clutch cycles. After installing the clutch or hydraulic release bearing, the following operations must be performed using a diagnostic tool:
- increasing the pressure in the system and removing air (see the corresponding operation);
- reset clutch cycle counter to zero (only if the clutch mechanism is replaced with a new one);
- initialization of the clutch "slip point" (using diagnostic equipment).
Dual Damping Flywheel (DVA) Clutch
LUK clutch discs do not have damping elements. The filtering of noise generated by the gearbox is carried out by the damping element of the dual flywheel (DVA), and not by the damping elements of the clutch disc.

The new concept mechanism is a gap compensation mechanism called: SAC (name proposed by LUK).
The mechanism is distinguished by the use of an automatic clearance compensation system using a force sensor. The graph of the force applied to the release bearing is a curve that practically does not change over time.
This system allows for a greater wear reserve than in classic clutch mechanisms.
Compensation tag:
A - compensation crown mark;
B - notches.
Please note: The SAC mechanism and the clutch friction disc are an inseparable unit (marking with the same number on the component parts). In the repair version, only disk units and mechanisms are supplied in a set. The clutch mechanism is in the initial position when the mark on the compensation crown is between the mechanism recesses.

1 - ball joint installed in the clutch housing;
2 — clutch release fork;
3 — clutch housing;
4 — clutch release bearing;
5 - clutch mechanism;
6 - mounting bolts;
7 — clutch hydraulic drive slave cylinder.
Note: All clutch mechanisms are "push" type mechanisms with hydraulic drive.
The clutch release drive has a release fork mounted on a ball joint.
The clutch hydraulic drive slave cylinder (7) is secured with two bolts (6) on the outside of the clutch housing.
