1. It is time to replace the brake pads if the total thickness of the pad, including the metal backing, is 6.0 mm. This value can be measured using a ruler (see illustration), without removing the pads. Use a repair kit to disassemble the brake pads. Remove the brake pads in the following order:

2. Place the front of the vehicle on a lift and remove the wheels.

3. Disconnect the brake pad wear indicator cable from the terminal.

4. Remove both bolts (see illustration). To do this, install a ring spanner on the outside and an open-end wrench on the inside. Do not clean the guide bolts from grease after removal.

5. Carefully remove the disc brake caliper and secure it to the front suspension with wire.

6. Check the condition of the dust rings and both rubber boots for the contact bolts. If they need to be replaced, clean the end of the piston and both pins with brake fluid and lubricate with special grease.

7. Install new rubber parts. When installing, proceed as follows:

8. Insert the piston back into the cylinder. To do this, either use a puller (see illustration), or place a wooden block between the piston and the screwdriver and carefully push the piston into the channel.

9. Install the brake pads in the reverse order.

10. Lubricate the screw threads of the guide bolts with Loctite, install the disc brake caliper in the proper position and slide in the lower bolt.

11. Then lift the disc brake caliper and insert the top bolt. Tighten both screws alternately to 35 Nm. Again, start with the bottom bolt.

12. After installation, press the brake pedal several times to press the brake pads against the discs.
