1. The brake drums are removed and installed as described in chapter 17 when replacing rear wheel bearings.

2. Remove the device for setting the normal gap between the brake drum and the shoes in advance. To do this, press the plugs (see illustration), place the blade of the screwdriver in the hole and move the handle to the outside. The screwdriver presses the handbrake lever on the inside of the brake drum and disconnects it from the brake shoes. Continue pressing the lever and move the screwdriver back and forth until the lever is completely released.

3. Unscrew the mounting bolts (use a flat-blade screwdriver) and remove the cylinder.

4. Install in reverse order. After installation, apply the brake several times to center the brake pads.

5. Install the plugs in the rear of the disc shield and adjust the parking brake as described later.
