1. Loosen the wheel hub nut with the vehicle on the ground.
2. Remove the brake clamp and hang it on the wheel beam so that the brake hose is not stretched.
3. Drain the transmission oil from the gearbox.
4. On the left side: remove the 3 bolts in the gearbox flange.
5. On the right side: Use a drift to knock out the expansion pin between the drive shaft and the gearbox.
6. On both sides: disconnect the ball joint of the steering linkage from the steering knuckles.
7. Remove the upper bolt of the lower MacPherson strut mount from the steering knuckle.
8. Some types of drive shafts may have the axle journal with engagement glued into the wheel hub. In this case, the axle journal must be pressed out of the hub with a special puller (t.Av.1050 device).
9. Pull the steering knuckles outwards and at the same time carefully pull the drive axle shafts out of the gearbox and, accordingly, the wheel hubs.
10. When removing the shaft, do not allow the joints to stretch. The maximum bending angle of the inner and outer joints must not be exceeded. In addition, be careful not to damage the sealing cuffs of the joints.
11. The joints of the new shafts are equipped with protective covers that prevent excessive bending of the joints. These covers can only be removed after the shafts have been installed.
12. On the left side: Clean the bearing surface of the joint seal in the gearbox.
13. Remove the protective cover from the joint closest to the gearbox, but do not use a screwdriver under any circumstances, as this may damage the sealing cuff.
14. Insert the drive shaft as horizontally as possible into the gearbox.
15. Insert the 3 sealing cuff bolts into the gearbox flange and tighten them to 25 Nm.
16. On the right side: lubricate the spline of the joint on the gearbox side with grease (Molykote BR2). Insert the drive shaft joint into the gearbox spline and use a drift to center the holes to install the new expansion pins.
17. Install the expansion pins and treat the holes with Curil.
18. Coat the splines of the shafts on the wheel side with a liquid preservative (such as "Scelbloc" from Loctite) and insert them into the wheel hub.
19. If there is no special installation tool, the axle journal can be tightened using the wheel hub nut. Then loosen the wheel hub nut slightly.
20. Install the brake clamps.
21. If the transmission oil has been drained, refill it.
22. After the vehicle has been lowered, manually release and remove the protective covers from the hinges.
23. Tighten the wheel hub nut with the brake pedal depressed to a torque of 250 Nm.
