The windshield wiper operates in the following modes:
  • intermittent;
  • low speed;
  • high speed.

The operating mode is changed using the windshield wiper switch lever on the right side of the steering column. On some vehicles, the windshield wiper operating mode can change automatically depending on the vehicle speed (additional equipment). In this case, when the car stops, the windshield wiper switches to a lower speed:
  • from continuous high speed operation to continuous low speed operation;
  • from continuous low-speed operation to intermittent operation.

When the vehicle starts moving again, the wiper returns to the selected speed.

If the car is equipped with a rain sensor that automatically turns on the windshield wiper when the windshield gets wet, the speed of the windshield wiper does not depend on the speed of the car.

At high vehicle speeds, when the windshield wiper arms and blades are subject to high wind loads, the windshield wiper automatically switches to a lower speed. If the windshield wiper mechanism is blocked for any reason, (for example, when the brushes freeze to the windshield) the power supply to the electric motor is automatically turned off.

To ensure reliable operation of the rain sensor, it is recommended to regularly replace the windshield wiper blade on the front passenger side.
