Removal and installation a vacuum pump (diesel engines) (Renault Megane 1)

Removal

1. Where necessary, remove the air intake duct to facilitate access to the vacuum pump (refer to Chapter Power and exhaust systems).

2. Release the clamp and disconnect the vacuum hose from the pump.

3. Remove the nuts/bolts securing the pump to the left end of the cylinder head, then remove the pump. Remove the pump gasket - it must be replaced.

Installation

1. Clean and dry the mating surfaces of the pump and cylinder head and install a new gasket on the head.

2. Move the pump into the operating position by aligning the drive lug with the camshaft groove, then install the pump mounting nuts/bolts and tighten them.

3. Connect the vacuum hose to the pump, tighten the clamp and install the air cleaner intake duct.
