If serious damage has occurred, it is best to entrust repairs to professionals. If the damage was caused by a collision, it is also necessary to check the geometry of the body, which can only be done by specialists using special tools.
Leaving the body uncentered is dangerous because firstly, the car will not respond properly to steering, and secondly, the steering, suspension and possibly the transmission will be subject to unequal loads, causing uneven wear of components or rendering them completely unusable (especially ones like tires).
