Attention. To prevent breakage of the contact disc under the steering wheel, the following instructions must be observed:
- before disconnecting the steering shaft from the steering mechanism, be sure to block the steering wheel with a special device with the wheels set to the position of movement in a straight line, and the steering wheel must remain locked during the entire time of work;
- if there is any doubt about the correct centering of the contact plate, remove the steering wheel and center the contact plate.
Remove the engine complete with gearbox.
Open the clamps (1) automatic transmission oil cooler hoses (2).
Disconnect the cooling system hoses from the automatic transmission oil cooler.
Disconnect the coolant hoses from the automatic transmission oil cooler hose bracket.
Move aside the coolant hoses from the automatic transmission oil cooler hose bracket.
Remove:
- coolant hose clamp bolts (3) on the oil cooler of the automatic transmission;
- coolant hose clamp (4) from the oil cooler of the automatic transmission;
- starter.
Remove:
- four nuts (5) from a torque converter;
- engine assembly with gearbox using a support for removing and installing the power unit (Mot. 1390) and workshop crane.
Remove the bolts securing the gearbox to the engine block and disconnect the automatic gearbox from the engine.
Tie the torque converter with a rope so that it does not come off and fall out of the transmission housing.
Check torque converter drive plate for damage and warping (allowable runout: 0.2mm).
Be sure to replace the torque converter mounting nuts.
Check for mounting bushings.
Disconnect the cord blocking the torque converter.
Verify with a straight edge that the torque converter is correctly installed on the CVT.
The distance between the edge of the torque converter mounting bolt and the casing must be at least 14.4 mm.
Install:
- automatic transmission;
- bolts securing the automatic transmission to the engine block.
Torque tighten the bolts securing the gearbox housing to the engine block 62 Nm.
Torque tighten the torque converter mounting nuts 44 Nm.
Install the parts in reverse order.
Torque converter
When installing, make sure that the protrusions of the torque converter (1) located in the grooves of the drive gear (2).
Torque converter oil seal
Remove the gland (1) with a screwdriver, being careful not to damage the mating surfaces.
Check and clean the mating surface of the gearbox torque converter oil seal.
Install a new oil seal using the torque converter and differential seal installer (Bvi. 1856) (2).
