Attention
- The gearbox is removed from the underside of the car.
- Repair of the gearbox is not provided, therefore spare parts for the gearbox are not available for sale at service stations. This section does not provide disassembly and assembly of the transmission, but only information on removing and installing the transmission.
The gearbox converts the torque transmitted from the engine in magnitude and direction. This is necessary to ensure optimal speed and maneuverability of the vehicle, as well as for the most economical operation of the engine and when driving the vehicle in reverse. In addition, the gearbox decouples the engine and transmission when the vehicle is stopped and parked and when it coasts with the engine running
The gearbox parts are housed in a crankcase that is bolted to the rear of the engine.
Torque from the engine is transmitted through the clutch to the input shaft of the gearbox. The transmission output shaft transmits torque through the differential to the drive shafts. The gear is engaged by moving the synchronizer sliding clutch, as a result of which the gear is rigidly connected to the gearbox shaft.
