The time it takes for the heating element to reach 850°C is within 3-7 sec depending on the spark plug characteristics. The spark plugs are equipped with a 5 mm diameter heating element, which is located in the pre-chamber to reduce engine noise during the post-heating phase.
Replacement
- The operation of replacing glow plugs must be carried out with great care to avoid damaging the threads in the cylinder head and foreign objects getting into the spark plug holes.
- Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
- Disconnect the glow plug wires by making two needles to easily pass them under the intake manifold.
- Use compressed air to blow out the glow plugs and the area around them to remove all contaminants.
- Using a 10 mm socket wrench, remove the glow plugs.
- When installing glow plugs, be sure to observe the tightening torques:
- glow plugs - 15±3 Nm,
- intake manifold mounting nut — 22±2 Nm.
