Replacing the fine fuel filter (Renault Espace III)

The fuel filter is equipped with an electric heater and a thermal switch that turns on the heater depending on the fuel temperature. The heater power is approximately 150 W

The electric heater switches on when the fuel temperature is below 0°C and switches off when the temperature is above 8°C.

• The replaceable fuel filter element is located on the booster pump bracket
• Using a belt wrench, unscrew the filter housing and remove the filter element.
• Install a new filter element and gaskets, pre-soaked in diesel fuel.
• Screw the filter housing until it touches the gasket, then tighten it another quarter turn.
• Remove air from the fuel system.

Note: To remove the fuel filter element, you may need to remove the bracket mounting bolts. In this case, you will need to replace the copper seals on the pipe connections.
