Location of the engine immobilizer system indicator light
Operating principle
After turning the key to the "accessories" position, the starter relay is automatically protected for a few seconds, while the control lamp in the ceiling light constantly flashes. Therefore, without a key with a code, it is impossible to start the engine.
After the ignition is switched on, the ceiling light indicator lamp should light up continuously for three seconds and go out. This indicates that the key code has been recognized and the engine can be started. If the key code is not recognized, the ceiling light indicator lamp will start flashing at an increased frequency, constantly warning the driver that the engine cannot be started. If, after the ignition is switched on, the ceiling light indicator lamp continues to flash or lights up continuously, there is a fault in the engine immobilizer system. On vehicles with diesel engines, a continuous glow of the indicator lamp indicates a fault in the engine immobilizer system. If the coded key is faulty, use the second key supplied with the vehicle.
Emergency engine start
If the engine start interlock system is faulty or there is no second remote control, contact a service center where, after appropriate checks, an emergency engine start code will be issued. This code is temporary and is automatically cancelled 10 minutes after the ignition is turned on and requires the following procedure to confirm the secret code:
[Original article is on the portal: renaultbook]
- first step: Press and hold the central locking button located on the left side of the lamp, this will turn off the lamp indicator connected to the engine start blocking system. After the number of lamp flashes is equal to the first digit of the secret code, release the button. The number zero (0) corresponds to ten lamp flashes. After dialing the first digit, release the button;
- second operation: enter the next three digits of the code in the same way.
If the code entered is correct, the engine can be started within 10 minutes. After the engine has started, the indicator light comes on for a few seconds, then goes out and comes on again for about 30 seconds. This indicates the position in which only emergency starting of the engine is possible.
If the code is entered incorrectly, the indicator light will flash at an increased frequency and the engine will not start, in this case, enter the secret code again.
Note: If you make a mistake when entering the secret code, you can cancel the partially entered code by turning off the ignition. and then entering the correct code. You can enter the secret code three times in one go. After that, before entering the code again, you must turn off the ignition and wait 15 minutes.
