Shock absorber
Here are some signs that dampers are deteriorating:
- Vibration of the steering wheel, as the wheels do not have constant contact with the surface.
- Rocking of the body after moving through the bumps.
- «uncertain» the movement of the car when cornering, since the wheels moving on the inside of the curve do not have enough contact with the surface and the wheels moving on the outside of the curve do not have enough unloading.
- Jumping wheels; however, only an observer sitting next to the driver or someone riding behind can notice this.
- Intermittent brake wake when braking to a standstill due to wheel bouncing (only not on a car with ABS).
- Uneven or excessive tire wear.
- Traces of oil on the outer surface of the shock absorber to the lower plate of the shock absorber strut spring. Minor oil leaks are normal.
