Clutch master cylinder (Renault Duster 1)

Tightening torques: Expansion tank nuts - 8 Nm.

Removal



Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

Remove the engine oil pan guard.

Unscrew the two nuts securing the expansion tank.

Move the expansion tank to the side.

Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector from the reservoir.

Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Remove the brake fluid from the reservoir with a syringe until the level is below the master cylinder fluid supply hole on the reservoir.

Place a rag under the hole.

Disconnect the clutch master cylinder line from the brake fluid reservoir.

Insert the plugs into the holes.

Place a rag under the clutch slave cylinder.

Remove the plug from the air bleed nipple (3).

Press the lock (1).



Attention! Do not pull the lock. Any erroneous action requires replacement of the pipeline.


Pull the clutch hydraulic line (2) one click to open the bleed hole.

Note: Take measures to collect leaking brake fluid.


Connect a transparent hose to the air bleed nipple (3), lowering the other end into an empty container located below the air bleed hole.

Press the clutch pedal with your hand (to remove fluid from the master cylinder and pipeline).


Remove the clamp (4) securing the pipe connecting the master and slave cylinders of the clutch drive on the master cylinder.

Place a rag under the clutch master cylinder.

Disconnect the line (5) from the clutch master cylinder.

Insert the plugs into the holes.



Disconnect the ball head (6) of the clutch master cylinder from the clutch pedal in the passenger compartment.



Remove the clutch master cylinder from the front shield by turning it in the engine compartment a quarter turn clockwise (bayonet lock) using the tool (7).



Installation



Check the condition of the gaskets.


Note: The clutch master cylinder has a locating element and can only be installed in one position.


Caution! Do not use the nipple as a stop during installation.


Install the clutch master cylinder by turning it a quarter turn counterclockwise (bayonet lock) using a device.

Install the clutch master cylinder ball head onto the clutch pedal in the passenger compartment.

Remove the plugs from the holes.

Install the connecting pipe of the master and slave cylinders of the clutch hydraulic drive to the master cylinder.

Press the clutch master cylinder lock.

Note: Lubricate both ends of the clutch master cylinder fluid supply line with brake fluid to facilitate installation of the line onto the brake fluid reservoir nipple.


Install the pipe connecting the clutch master cylinder to the brake fluid reservoir.

Note: When the clutch hydraulic line is secured, a characteristic click should be heard.


Install the clutch master cylinder to slave cylinder line to the slave cylinder.

Remove the clear hose from the bleeder nipple.

Remove the plugs from the holes.

Install the clutch master cylinder feed line to the brake fluid reservoir.

Install the expansion tank.

Tighten the expansion tank nuts to the required torque 8 (Nm).

Fill with brake fluid and bring its level up to normal.

Bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
