- drain the coolant by unscrewing the drain plug of the cylinder block;
- loosen the clamp and remove the pipe from the thermostat cover;

- unscrew the bolts securing the thermostat cover and remove it (pic. 3.88);

- remove the sealing ring and remove the thermostat from the housing (pic. 3.89).
To test, place the thermostat in a container of water. Heat water by monitoring the temperature with a thermometer. Visually mark the opening of the thermostat valve when the water boils and closes when it cools down to 89°C. If the valve does not work in any of the positions, the thermostat must be replaced.
Installation of the thermostat is carried out in the reverse order of removal, while replacing the sealing ring. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
