Buttons 1 and 12 are equipped with pilot lamps (2 and 13):
- if the control lamp is on, this function is enabled,
- if the control lamp is off, this function is disabled.
Maintenance of the microclimate (auto mode)
The automatic climate control guarantees (except for extreme weather conditions) good visibility and comfortable conditions in the car.
The temperature thresholds and the inscription «AUTO», functions operated in automatic mode are not displayed.
Press button 7 to increase the temperature, press button 4 to decrease it.
In automatic mode (the display shows «AUTO») all functions of the heating and ventilation system are controlled by the system itself.
When changing the parameters of some functions, the inscription «AUTO» disappears. Only the function whose parameters have not been changed is not controlled by the system.
Principle of operation
To achieve and maintain the desired climate parameters and maintain good visibility, the system constantly monitors and adjusts the following parameters:
- supply air consumption;
- distribution of air flows;
- air recirculation;
- turning the air conditioner on or off;
- air temperature.
The temperature values displayed on the display allow you to judge the level of climate control in the cabin.
When starting the engine in hot or cold weather, increasing or decreasing the set temperature value does not affect the speed of reaching the set climate parameters (at any level of regulation, the system independently sets the speed of raising or lowering the temperature, the fan speed increases as the engine warms up, which takes from several seconds to several minutes).
As a general rule, with the exception of some special cases, the instrument panel vents should be kept open at all times.
Changing the automatic mode
The normal operation of the system is automatic, but it is possible to change the adjustments made by the system (distribution of air flows, etc.), as described below.
Distribution of air entering the passenger compartment
There are five combinations of air distribution modes, which are selected by successive pressing of buttons 8 and 10. The arrows on display 5 inform about the current mode (see fig. 1.79).
All air flow is directed to blowing the windshield and side windows.
The air flow is directed to the windshield, side windows and to the feet of the driver and passengers.
Air enters the cabin mainly through the ventilation grilles.
Air is directed to all ventilation grilles and to the feet of the driver and passengers.
Air is directed only to the feet of the driver and passengers.
When changing the air distribution mode manually, the message on the display 5 (auto mode) goes out, while the system does not automatically control only the distribution of air flows. To return to automatic mode, press switch 6 (pic. 1.79).
Changing the fan speed
When operating in automatic mode, the air conditioning system sets the optimal fan speed to achieve and maintain the specified conditions.
By pressing buttons 9 and 11 the automatic mode is switched off (see fig. 1.79).
These buttons allow you to increase or decrease the fan speed.
Turning the air conditioner on or off
In automatic mode, the system turns on or off the air conditioner depending on the external climatic conditions.
By pressing the buttons 3 the automatic mode is switched off, the message «AUTO» display 5 goes out.
With button 3 you can turn on (the symbol is lit) or turn off (the symbol goes out) air conditioner (see fig. 1.79).
Defrosting / defogging the rear window
Press button 12: indicator lamp 13 lights up (see fig. 1.79).
This function enables quick defrosting of the rear window and electrically heated exterior mirrors (if the car is equipped with such mirrors).
To turn off the mode, press the button 12 again. By default, the heating turns off automatically after a while.
Function «providing an overview»
Press button 1: indicator lamp 2 lights up (see fig. 1.79).
Message «AUTO» (on display) will disappear.
This function provides quick de-icing and demisting of the windshield, front side windows and rear-view mirrors (depending on vehicle configuration).
At the same time, the air conditioning system is forcibly turned on, the air recirculation mode is turned off and the rear window heating is turned on (control lamp 13).
Press button 12 if the rear window heating is not required; control lamp 13 will go out.
Note. If necessary, change the air supply mode (which may be accompanied by some noise in the cabin) press switch 11 (see fig. 1.79). To disable this feature, you should:
- - press button 1 again;
- - press button 6 (message appears on the display «AUTO»).
Air recirculation mode
Button press 14 (see fig. 1.79) allows you to turn on the air recirculation mode (the corresponding symbol lights up on the display).
In this mode, the air is taken from the passenger compartment and re-enters the passenger compartment without mixing with the outside air.
Recirculation mode allows you to block the access of outside air (while driving through areas with polluted air, etc.).
Continued use of this air setting may cause odors due to lack of fresh outside air and fogging of the windows.
Therefore, it is recommended to turn on the normal mode (with outside air intake or automatic recirculation) by pressing button 14 again, as soon as the need for air recirculation is no longer needed.
No air cooling
Check that the air conditioning controls are turned on correctly and that the electrical fuses are in good condition. If it was not possible to find the cause of the failure of the air conditioning system, turn it off and contact a Renault service station.
Do not open the refrigeration circuit of the air conditioner.
Fuel consumption
The operation of the air conditioning system leads to an increase in fuel consumption, especially when driving in urban areas.
In winter, it is necessary to periodically turn on the air conditioner to maintain the system in working condition.
Malfunctions in work
The reason for the decrease in the efficiency of the defrosting, blowing or air conditioning system may be a dirty cabin air filter (see the frequency of its replacement in the car's service book).
In most cases, if a system malfunction is detected, contact a Renault service station.
After running the air conditioner for a long time in a parking lot, water puddles may appear under the car - this is normal.
