Removing
1. The sensor, depending on the engine, can be located:
- a) E7J engines - on the rear of the cylinder block, below the intake manifold.
- b) K7M engines - on the back of the cylinder block, behind the starter.
- With) F3R engines - on the front of the cylinder head, between spark plugs #2 and #3.
- d) F7R engine - on the front of the cylinder block, next to the oil filter.
2. On models with an F3R engine, disconnect the wiring and unscrew the knock sensor from the cylinder head.
3. On E7J, K7M and F7R engine models, apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands. Disconnect the sensor wiring from under the vehicle.
4. On models with the E7J and K7M engine, unscrew the sensor from the cylinder block. On models with an F7R engine, unscrew the mounting nut and remove the sensor.
Installation
1. Install in reverse order. Make sure the sensor and bearing surface on the cylinder block or head are clean and tighten the sensor (or fixing nut) given in Specifications effort. It is very important to comply with these requirements, because due to the looseness of the sensor to the contact surface, it will not be able to detect impulses caused by pre-ignition. Which can cause severe engine damage.
