Attention! When working on the fuel tank or on the fuel supply system, you must:
- do not smoke in the working area and do not bring hot objects to the working area;
- take measures to protect against splashing of gasoline, which can occur when disconnecting fuel lines (due to residual pressure).
Removing
Attention! Before removing the assembly, take measures to collect fuel (do not pinch the fuel lines, which may damage them).
It is not necessary to remove the tank to remove the fuel pump and level sensor assembly. This assembly is accessible from the rear seat. To do this, disconnect the battery.
Remove the rear seat cushion and remove the plastic plug
Disconnect:
- one or more fuel pump and level sensor assembly quick connectors.
- electrical connector.
Remove the sensor mounting nut using tool Mot. 1397.
Allow the fuel in the sensor to drain completely, then remove the fuel pump and level sensor assembly. Do not damage the float.
Note. If it takes several hours between removal and installation of the fuel pump and level sensor assembly, install the nut on the tank. to prevent it from deforming.
Installation
Replace O-ring.
Replace the pump and level sensor assembly. While doing so, position the sensor pointer in line with the three lines molded into the sides of the tank.
Screw on the nut and tighten it so. so that its pointer matches the tank pointer and the pointer of the fuel pump and level sensor assembly.
Snap one or more quick connectors.
Connect the electrical connector.
Install the plastic plug and rear seat cushion.
