Attention! When working with the fuel tank or the fuel supply system, it is necessary to:
- do not smoke in the work area and do not bring hot objects to the work area;
- take precautions to prevent gasoline splashes that may occur when disconnecting fuel lines (due to residual pressure).
Removal
Caution! Before removing the unit, take measures to collect fuel (do not pinch the fuel lines, which may damage them).
The fuel pump and level sensor assembly can be removed without removing the tank. This assembly is accessible from the rear seat by disconnecting the battery.
Remove the rear seat cushion and remove the plastic plug
Disconnect:
- one or more quick-release connections of the fuel pump and level sensor assembly.
- electrical connector.
Remove the sensor mounting nut using tool Mot. 1397.
Allow the fuel in the sensor to drain completely, then remove the fuel pump and level sensor assembly. Be careful not to damage the float.
Note: If several hours must pass between removal and installation of the fuel pump and level sensor assembly, screw the nut onto the tank to prevent deformation.

Installation
Replace the sealing ring.
Replace the pump and level sensor assembly. When doing this, position the sensor pointer in accordance with the three lines cast on the tank walls.
Install the nut and tighten it until its pointer aligns with the tank pointer and the pointer on the fuel pump and level sensor assembly.
Snap one or more quick-release fittings into place.
Connect the electrical connector.
Install the plastic plug and rear seat cushion.
