Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.
Lift the rear seat cushion and remove the plastic access cover to the fuel pump and level sensor assembly.

Disconnect electrical connector 2, disconnect one or more quick-release connections 3.
Raise the car.
If necessary, remove the absorber.
Disconnect the body height sensor.
Disconnect the height sensor post.
Disconnect the tire pressure monitoring system wiring harness from the horn.

Remove the 4 brake line clamps and disconnect them from the acoustic link.
Remove the heat shield retainer 5.
Remove the acoustic rod connecting the two rear suspension mounting points by unscrewing and tightening the bolts alternately.
Remove the downstream oxygen sensor (after catalytic converter).
Separate the exhaust pipe from the exhaust inlet pipe. The gasket is not reused.
On the L7X engine, remove the auxiliary muffler.

Remove the main muffler clamp. The exhaust pipe will lie on the rear suspension beam and on the subframe.
Remove the heat shield.

Disconnect the anti-pressure tube 1.
Remove the filler neck clamp 2. Consider replacing the clamp with a new one.

Remove the tank mounting bolts.
With the help of an assistant, remove the tank by first moving the tank towards the front of the car and then turning it around the axis of the exhaust pipe.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Take precautions to avoid pinching the tubes (in order to prevent fuel leaks).
Connect the quick-release couplings by hand and make sure they are securely fastened.
Please pay attention to the correct installation of the heat shield.
Replace the exhaust downpipe gasket and filler neck clamp.
Tighten the tank mounting bolts to 21 Nm.
Tighten the oxygen sensor to 45 Nm.
Tighten the rear suspension beam mounting bolts to 80 Nm.
