The knock sensor is installed on the cylinder head. With its help, the ignition control unit recognizes and prevents knock combustion of the fuel mixture in the cylinders.
Removal
1. Cars with a 1.4-/1.6-liter gasoline engine (E7J/K7M). Disconnect the plug from the sensor 2. The sensor is located on the rear wall of the cylinder block near the generator (see illustration).
5.1 Disconnect the plug from sensor 2. Vehicles with 1.4-/1.6-liter petrol engine (E7J/K7M).
2. Unscrew the sensor.
3. Cars with a 1.4-/1.6-liter (E4J/K4M) and 2.0-liter gasoline engine. Disconnect connector 1 from the knock sensor. The sensor is located on the front side of the cylinder head (see illustration).
4. Unscrew sensor 2 (see illustration 5.3).
5.3 Disconnect plug 1 from the knock sensor. Vehicles with 2.0 liter petrol engine
Installation
5. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and the knock sensor.
6. Screw in the sensor and tighten it to 25 Nm.
Attention! It is imperative to observe the tightening torque of the sensor, because this is important for its proper functioning. When installing the sensor, make sure that no dirt gets into the hole. Ensure proper cleanliness.
7. Connect the sensor plugs.
