Various types of protective panels and covers installed under the bottom of the car are usually secured with a combination of screws, nuts, clamps and fasteners. To check the condition of the body elements, the protective panels must be removed from the car. Moving along the perimeter of the panel, methodically release all the fasteners. When the panel is completely free, remove it from the car. Most of the fasteners used on the car are removed from the panels they hold by prying with a suitable tool. In some cases, it is necessary to unscrew/pry out the central pin from the fastener.

When installing the panel back in place, all fasteners damaged during dismantling must be replaced. Make sure the panel is securely fastened to the body element.

Overlays and moldings

Various types of trims and decorative strips are attached to the car body panels using special glue. To separate the trim element from the panel, it is necessary to heat it up, then the softened layer of adhesion is cut with a sharp thin knife. Due to the fairly high probability of damage to the paintwork, it would be better to entrust this procedure to car service specialists.
