Water pump (Renault Espace III)

Removal

• Place the vehicle on a lift. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
• Drain the coolant and engine oil. Do not screw in the oil drain plug.
• Remove the right front wheel and the right wheel arch mudguard.
• Unscrew the four bolts securing the water pump cover (Fig. 4.71).

• Lock the crankshaft with a screwdriver inserted into the flywheel ring gear.
• Loosen the lock nut securing the water pump hub.
• Using the U 14 L FACOM puller, remove the gear from the water pump (Fig. 4.72).

Installation

• Replace the water pump.

Caution: The remaining coolant will drain into the engine oil pan.

• Make sure the water pump mating surface is clean and that the coolant drains into the oil pan.
• The water pump is installed in the reverse order of removal.
